Did you know that the wealthy only pay tithes (one-tenth) after expenses have been deducted, such as business trips and vehicle depreciation, while the poor pay the full 10% tithe on the gross of their income, not the net? Did your bishop ever share that tip during Tithing Settlement?
Did you know that is an Old Covenant law?
30 And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord’s: it is holy unto the Lord. (Leviticus 27)
24 But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer as an heave offering unto the Lord, I have given to the Levites to inherit (Numbers 18)
This is what God expects under the New Covenant law:
7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful GIVER.
8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work (2 Corinthians 9)
Nothing is stated contrary to that in the New Covenant part of The Holy Book of Mormon.
